The Delhi Chapter : Page 14

Not to say, the sight of the city was underwhelming at all.
But it was certainly very unlike any other metro I'd ever seen before.

I perched my head up as soon as I saw the train meander into another station.
[ Which of course, looked identical as the first. ]

All the glass doors of the train opened up automatically.
And almost as automatically, people got off and got on.

Sikanderpur station; the platform board informed.
The next stop was meant to be my destination.

Unable to sit any longer on my seat, I slung my laptop bag on my right shoulder.
And went and stood near one of the doors.

Seconds later, the terminus was reached.

Guru Dronacharya metro station.

[ Just somehow loved the sound of the name.
Right from the first time I heard it. ]

A tall, titanic, light brown tinged building stood right outside the station to greet me on my first day.

The Global Business Park, it was called.

That moment – is far too deeply inked in my memory – to ever require any invocation.

I must've stood there for at least a whole of 5 minutes to fully soak in the overwhelming feeling.
[ And people dashing in and out of the metro must've been convinced that I was darn retarded. ]

What A building, I thought.

Wow.

It seemed like someone had injected an adrenalin shot right into my system.
And for the first time, I could actually feel how thrilled I was to be standing there.

22 years is a long time for someone's luck to remain in hibernation.
THIS had to be my time; I thought and managed to convince myself.

And in those 5 minutes I actually had dreams of one day walking into a cabin in that office.
Smile at the skyline outside and be able to say,

"Hello world, I've arrived."
